If you thought recent news of Nokia Morph device was high tech then you may be either seriously impressed or absolutely horrified by a new entry to the Greener Gadgets Design Competition.

Core77 invited designers to explore the concept of “Greener Gadgets” by submitting designs sought to minimize the environmental impact of consumer electronic devices at any stage in the in the product lifecycle.
US Jim Mielke’s answer to the brief was a Digital Tattoo Interface that allows you to answer you mobile phone by pressing an area of your skin. In response to a call the Digital Tattoo Interface starts operating after pressing a small dot on the skin of the user’s arm. Whilst the user is talking the tattoo comes to life in the form a digital video of the caller on the skin.

Embedded under the skin the Bluetooth device made of flat, flexible, silicon and silicone lies there indefinitely. To insert the gadget into the skin it’s rolled up for incision and then flattened out to lie between the skin and muscle.
So how is it powered? Well, if you’re of a queasy disposition then you may want to go back to the Mobile Express homepage right now. Through the same incision two small tubes are attached from the bluetooth device to an artery and vein. For power a coin size blood fuel cell in the implant converts the blood’s glucose and oxygen from the artery to electricity. Used blood then returns to the vein.
The implant is seen as being ‘green’ as it communicates wirelessly with external devices as well as other devices implanted in the same body.
Doubling up as a health gadget too, the embedded device could continually monitor for blood disorders and alert the users of any potential health problems.
Hopefully this is an early April Fools.

This is more scarey than terrorism! I’m not of the “quesy disposition” and none of that bothers me. What scares me is that you now have a tracking device implanted in your body. And personal information, including health, is no longer personal. I would never consent to such a violation. Please just clone me instead. Why are people considering such unnatural practices? This is the real terrorism around here. I really hope people aren’t so stupid that they would ever approve this type of device! Honestly, this is outrageous!
